Setting Featured Images
NOTE: For the 2020 Campaign Theme, images are displayed at 1000px wide. If the image selected as featured image is less than 1000px, one of the random default images will appear, not your featured image.
The “Featured Image” is that shown in the header just below the top menu tabs If no featured image is set, then the header displays a random image from the graphix folder in the theme. See the current random library below.
You can set the featured image to be one from your media library on the edit page.
On desktops, the visible size ot the featured image in the CCCG Theme is 640px wide by 149px high. On smart phones the entire image will be shown.
Best Practices
Unlike the Logo Image Cropping Tool, the Featured image will not be resized to fit the allowed window. To have better control on how your images appear, you will get the best satisfaction if you resize and crop your Featured images to 1000px for the 2020-campaign theme or 640px by 150px for the CCCG theme. On the CCCG them, images will not display entirely:
- larger images will be cropped to display only the upper left-hand corner
- smaller images will not fill the header area an look bad
- Images with a higher height to width ration will take up more space on mobile device screens.
Some Random Images for Page Headers
If no featured image is selected, one of these images, cropped to 640px by 150px, will randomly display in the header of posts and pages. More images may be added to the graphix folder rotator library.
